@niclasjt People tune out because they sometimes take it to ridiculous levels and that turns off reasonable, somewhat religious people and makes them more receptive to religious fundamentalists, who claim to care about religious freedom and the roots of America while actually spreading subtle theist-government propaganda. Can we just acknowledge the fact that religion has been a part of U.S. history and doesn't have to be eradicated from every single public place?

Whoa whoa, when did the ACLU become fringe extremists pushing an agenda? That's part of the problem, that people tune out of the debate. Organizations like the ACLU are out there defending moderate (read apathetic) from the fringe religious groups and other interests that want to force you to live according to their dictates. They speak out against the people who subvert your freedom to live your way, especially when they capture government.

So many of these pro lifers don't think twice about sending the next person they dislike on death row. Adams right like most times. Go do something useful and eff up your own kids with your crap. It teaches people not to think. Also, Aside from the fact that even animals experience empathy, if someone needs a lie to be a good person they should be exposed to society. basing mental functioning and reason on fantasies weakens every aspect of the mind.
