@sergius666 they don't look outdated, except in the overworld
they look excellent in a way that has become relatively unpopular because people more often think (sometimes incorrectly) that 3D is the way to go

I loved this game, and I did get lost in Sonia's palace but I beat it. : ] Awesome game with awesome music. And I picked this game randomly.

It was quite hard to get to the ending,at least for me,so many years ago-but I still remember it as really fun and deep game,even if graphics look outdated now =)

Could have just been an in-joke among the game's developers. It's not uncommon for them to slip something into the credits at times just to see if folks will catch it.
