  • I am the genealogist/Peonage researcher who appeared on Warren Ballentine radio talk show.

  • My peonage research tells me that slavery didn't end for hundreds of thousand of African American people in sixteen states and twenty-two counties in Mississppi. Please pass this youtube video to others on your list.

  • did all black people have freedmans black records what year can I trace it to im wondering did all slaves have brothers and sisters how can find my great aunts uncles my slave great grat mother and her parents im wondering how ?

  • I would say 80 percent of enslaved African Americans have some form of records. I would suggest that you start by collecting any form of oral history from the oldest person in your family. Secondly, the U.S. Census would be a good start. Please start with the 1930 census and work you way back to 1870. Prior to 1870 your ancestor would not be listed by name on the census. Only be gender and age under the slaveholder surname.

  • i think this is a real effective video and black people all needs to here this story of all ages

  • thank you kindly, please foward this youtube video to others on your list.

  • Actual slavery continues in Florida today. See the Aimed At America 4 video for documented proof.

  • True shame. My family is from Lincoln Co., MS and Pike Co., MS. My mother and I were researching our genealogy, but are running into major obstacles unfortunately. We will continue our search to enlighten ourselves with our family's history though! Thanks for sharing & I WILL be passing this on.

  • {Quote} - Not only was slavery an established institution in West Africa before European traders arrived, but Africans were also involved in a trans-Saharan trade in slaves along these routes. African rulers and merchants were thus able to tap into preexisting methods and networks of enslavement to supply European demand for slaves. Enslavement was most often a byproduct of local warfare, kidnapping, or the manipulation of religious and judicial institutions.
