This is a wrong simulation. The wave height will not be more than 1-2 feet in the ocean, only when the waves reach continental shelf do they gain height.

The richter scale of 9.0 is the only geology term in this video, not a single concept is presented. Well, probably the earth is a sphere is one good explanation here :P

@fitnessmies I am not wrong, that footage proves me correct, it is at 5km from shore which is well within the continental shelf. Tsunami is not a surface phenomenon, huge body of water is displaced deeper in the ocean, water deep inside is also moving to shore. But as it reaches shore, the depth available for water decreases due to increased height of sea bed, so water gains height even to the order of 10-15 meters. Volume remains same, so as depth decreases towards shores, water gains height.

@Apollo13143 You should search on youtube "tsunami at sea" it will show you that the wave infact is several meters high at the sea. It was filmed by a japanese patroll boat.

if there was a storm and then an earthquake or tsunami occur then that would cause a total catastrophe like a big tidal wave and can kill hundreds of people residing near the shore
