He dies of two stab wounds to the chest. The coroner wasn't sure if they were self-inflicted or not. He suffered from drug addiction and depression. He was brilliant, though. That seems to be the way that it always happens.

actually emo always had negative connotations. hardcore kids used it to make fun of bands that were breaking away from the genre with different lyrics and singing styles than traditional underground hardcore. almost no band willing called themselves emo. not until the commercialization of it, which is completely different music all together.

It's such a fucking tragedy that Elliott didn't win the Oscar for this song, because he easily deserved it. That's the world we live in, though, where most people are unable to comprehend his genius.
