75 MILLION in LAWYERS COSTS !,We can blame the fucking LAWYERS for this sort of crap ,I know that is how YOUR law society has evolved over the years (Litigation is rife in the US!!!,eg: 1 million $ to some fuckwit who SPILLED COFFEE ON HIMSELF and SUED McDonalds, etc, the list goes on.

Who cares about Barry Bonds's punishment? The issue here isn't the punishment, the issue here is that the government would spend $75 million just to nail someone for using steroids. If the MLB wants to ban its players from using steroids, that's fine by me. But it's not the role of the federal government to go around telling people what to do with their bodies.
