The only place you can ride these trains on the main line is between Brockenhurst and Lymington Pier, the loco on the front is only used to rescue the units if they fail, although the loco has run in passenger service on the line to Lymington Pier branch twice. There are some other locos that are used for engineers trains and on the Kent area for d-icing duties.
