Pearl jam were never the same after Dave left , Vs and Vitalogy are the best sounding Pearl Jam albums ever , that's because of Daves input and drumming technique.

Matt Cameron sounds too polished and soft as shit compared to Dave..

Vedder was a disgrace for sacking him...

.....i'm not a drummer but Dave has quite a way of putting it all together back there......his feel and sense of timiing was a tremendous component to PJ's sound......

But Dave Abbruzzese expressed to me the best potential for Pearl Jam.

This is one of the most incredible use of cymbals for fills i have ever seen. So solid and creative at the same time. It's not over the top and seems just right.

@needley: Agreed. Jack had a cool neo-psychedelic funk groove but sounded so at home in hard rock, and Dave just fucking destroyed. During the Binaural tour, Matt was the fuckin man, but for some reason he mellowed out after that. That's why they play so fast and light now.

@Tigerpuffer Great post mate.. I loved Dave and Jack.. Matt is too polished for Pearl Jam and has turned them into a normal rock band.. Reason I loved PJ from the start cos there sound was so raw and Jack brought some fantastic rhythm to the band..

Dave was Pearl Jam's best live drummer, Jack Irons was their best studio drummer, and Matt Cameron is Soundgarden's best drummer :P
