(Click "more info" for the lyrics).......
I've always wanted to see a video of this MAGNIFICENT song on YouTube, so I've made one myself.... Here it is:

THIS TRAIN REVISED
from the album Swamp Ophelia
by Indigo Girls

(Words and Music: Amy Ray)

It's a fish-white belly,
A lump in the throat,
Razor on a wire,
Skin and bone.
Piss and blood
In a railroad car -
100 people:
Gypsies, queers, and David's stars.

This train is bound for Glory.
This train is bound for Glory.
This train is bound for Glory.
This train...

Measure the bones,
Count the face,
Pull out the teeth.
Do you belong
To the human race?
Doctor, Doctor,
Are you unkind?
Do you shock the monkeys?
Cover our eyes
With clear blue skies?

This train is bound for Glory.
This train is bound for Glory.
This train is bound for Glory now.
This train...

Here is a dancer...
Who has no legs.
Here is a teacher...
Who has no face.
Here is a healer...
Who has no hands.
Here is a runner...
Who has no feet.
Here is a thinker...
Who has no head.
Here is a builder...
Who has no back.
Here is a writer...
Who has no voice.
These are the questions
(These are the answers)
Stacked like wood.

This train is bound for Glory.
This train is bound for Glory.
This train is bound for Glory now.
This train...

This train is bound for Glory.
(This train gonna carry my mother)
This train is bound for Glory.
(This train gonna carry my father)
This train is bound for Glory now.
(This train gonna carry my sister)
This train...
(This train gonna carry my brother)
(Here is a teacher)
[Stacked like wood]
(This train gonna carry my sister)
(Here is a healer)
[Stacked like wood]
(This train gonna carry my brother)
(This is a builder)
This train gonna carry my sister
[Gypsies, queers and David's stars]
This train is...
This train is bound for Glory.

These are the questions,
Stacked like wood.
These are the answers:
Here is potential... gone for good.

  • I feel sorry for you for being so ignorant.

  • @Shellegify ("I feel sorry for you for being so ignorant.")

I feel sorry for you for being so biased/blind.

I NEVER imply that the Jews didn't suffer horribly under Nazism.

I (and Indigo Girls) point out that they weren't the ONLY ones to suffer horribly under Nazism.

    I further point out:

    a) how sad it makes me that a People who have SO suffered under oppression haven't learned that ALL oppression is wrong - even that carried out by your allies.

    b) that oppression goes on ALL over the World...

to say what happened to other peoples was what happened to the Jewish People is simply horrific ignorace. Shellegify is absolutely right. Yes, many others were targeted by the Nazis, but none like the Jews. Millions others died, yes, and that cannot be minimized, but the six million, including one and half million children, all of whom were targeted because of their faith, were systematically persecuted on a level the world had never seen before.

  • I never watched this, i've heard enough holocaust exaggerations and victimology.

Now I'll click another "this train" link and maybe hear some music.

  • After the Israeli independence in 1948, the Arab world attacked Israel trying to expel them from the region. After the 1948 war, the borders were expanded. Israel has expanded several times in the wake of Arabs declaring war on them. If the Arabs had been willing to have peace, they wouldn't be in the position they are today.

  • @jimmsfairytales0com

Let me see, if the Arabs and Palestinians had any desire for peace with Israel, then they would not have started all this in the first place immediately after Israel was made a state in 1948. Much of Israel today was already in the hands of the Jews before the formation of the Israeli state, as it had been poor land that the Ottoman Empire had sold the Jews. The Palestinians did not want the Jews there, even though the land was bought by them, and carried out many attacks

  • @jimmsfairytales0com no problem! looks great.

  • What a stupid intro.

  • @kazywaz "...reveals that you don't care about the issues, what you care about is pointing fingers ..."

One thing I care about is HYPOCRISY! If 14 Israeli citizens die in a bus bombing, everybody is ready to condemn the violence and call the suicide bomber a terrorist.

When 1400 Palestinian citizens die in "Operation Cast Lead", any of us who say that the state of Israel is terrorist... we're called "anti-semitic" (understood: "fans of Hitler")

With double standards... there's no just solution.

  • @kazywaz "What is significant is that people are dying over there"

I COULDN'T AGREE MORE! About 1400 of them (PALESTINIANS) died IN JUST 22 DAYS when the Israelis carried out "Operation Cast Lead", a crime against humanity which the international community refuses to condemn unanimously BECAUSE of this "anti-semitic" emotional blackmail.

EVERY SINGLE TIME that a resolution comes up in the UN Security Council just CRITICISING Israel, The USA vetoes it so NOTHING is ever done. You find that just?
