Because it's not technically or economically feasible. That was gathered at a huge cost from deserted beaches in one of the most remote islands in the planet.
Plastic in the ocean is fragmented in tiny pieces and scattered over a continent sized area. Good luck gathering that, let alone making money

there are tons of plastics there and lots of money to be made by recycling it, so why doesnt someone gather that shit up?
