well its not going to sound vary clear.. the muffled sound is why people like the radio still. its just an old cool thing.. the transformer if it is getting hot you might need to add a heat sinc.. just to protect it. you should put the old tubes in a retro display sorta thing not in its original box to show more how it works toother people and becouse you dont see any tubes any more.. use heat shrink for wireing its fast and easy and perminent

Nice job! Keep on restoring these beauties. It is so cool to see younger people having an interest in the history of radio.

Beautiful chassis; and you did this with no dim bulb tester or variac? Also, I see the tax forms on the table; how did that work out?

@AloneAndOld nope I don't have the money for a variac because I always have to PAY the taxes, I don't get a refund :( Thanks for the comment :-)

@coolbluelights It's VERY easy to make a "Dim Bulb Tester" A 60W bulb, Light Switch, Regular Receptacle. Snip the metal connectors from the center of the socket, so you can wire it in a SERIES. Get a two prong Adapter for the Bulb; Now, when you go to power up something you work on, the bulb will shine bright for a moment with inrush current, then go dim. if the bulb stays BRIGHT, swith the power off Immediately! This will save you from burning something out on your next project.
