As my tribute this memorial day I decided to go out toward Mount Rainier once again to find another hidden gem here in the great Pacific Northwest region of the Cascade Mountain Range. I wanted to share the peacefulness, joy and tranquility that I get when visiting such natural wonders.

This was the little Mashel Creek that has a nice set of water falls that culminate one the dangerous drop of the Little Mashel Falls which is about 120 feet or so. You can get right on the top area so I have read that many have fallen to there tragic end of the falls as its mainly rocks at the bottom with not much of a water pool.

Today it was a very nice day in about the 70 degree range up here in the mountains. I filmed this between 4:45 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. PST right before the sun started to set. This is just 2.5 miles past Eatonville, WA heading toward Mount Rainier on Highway 7. There is a turn with railroad tracks on left side of street but the turn goes up and over the tracks with a turnout on right side of roadway. In the middle of the turn is a trail that leads down to the creek and then the falls. Some others were camping and cooking over an open fire which looked like a great time. There was a lot of little bugs, I think I ran into some poison ivy, and trail gets very muddy and slippery in areas so be prepared for a real outdoor adventure if you decide to go.

Thanks to everyone of all nations who has served for freedom from oppression.
Best wishes to all on this Monday's Memorial Day 2009.

Hope you enjoy.

  • Hey Drew...

I love the white noise of your videos, very soothing! Any plans to make a longer one? I find about 30 mins of something like this is perfect to go to sleep with.

  • I am limited to 10 minute videos at least here on YouTube but I do usually shoot to create about a 20 minute video. I am working on a DVD that will have longer repeatable sections that would run much longer but for now just trying to get more video up in the mountains. Thanks for the comment.

  • very nice shots and cool camera, thanks 4 postin:)

  • I have been working on my shot selections so I appreciate the comment. I am still amazed by the high quality of such a small camera at least when there is proper lighting. Thank you.
