The national debt causes the trade deficit more than the trade deficit causes national debt. If the US wasn't borrowing money from China, it couldn't afford to buy so much from China... and how can China be expected to buy much from the US when they spend so much of their money buying up our debt? Every dollar we borrow from China, is a dollar a worker in China doesn't have to spend on US goods.

Small businesses don’t benefit from overvalued to the degree of the Wal-Marts of the world, but the loss of U.S. Jobs and resulting shrinking markets hurt small businesses more.
