This 1974 beetle commercial is made with the same background music as the american commercial nr. 26.

This is a 1974 VW mexican TV commercial, first aired on November 1973 (it starts wishing a happy new year!), featuring the new 1600cc. engine, new wider seats, a smaller stickshift, larger tailights and turn signals, this add was only made for Mexico and not Southamerica. Domestic mexican beetles were not exported at that time. changes on mexican Beetles were one year behind or two of those of the German beetles back then.

I had a red 1974 Super Beetle that I purchased in 1985 making me the 3rd owner. Had it for 5 years and I still dream about driving it to this day. I am going to get antoer one soon. Same year or newer. It was reliable and it was still drivable after I blew a valve on one of the cylinders. $900.00 later with a rebuild, She was up and running again. The downside was the interior smelled like car fumes from the poorly rusted heat exchangers. Its way better and affordable then todays cars.
