One of the meanings for the word "Tantra" is "continuity." Tantra is very physical in its methods of allowing us to feel our continuity from the inside out. Vibrating the skull in "om" and doing alternate nostril breathing, for example, help the two hemispheres of the brain and the two branches of the nervous system come into balance.
By a simple change in a direction of perception, we can ease up the stresses of relationships to some degree, and going into that with extended meditation anchors it in.
