This is me testing Verizon FiOS out at a relative's home. They have the 25Mbps/15Mbps package which is really provisioned at 25Mbps/25Mbps. In this test, I performed a speed test to the nearest server based on the network layout and routing. I also performed a browsing speed test by visiting uncached websites which are popular/well known. Lastly, I performed two file downloads, one download from Akamai (100MB) and a test download from Steam. This YouTube video took no more than 6 seconds to upload in 1080p on this connection.

All of this was performed over a Wireless G connection on a Windows 7 laptop.

Verizon, please bring FiOS to me! DSL won't be cutting it any longer!

  • What's so special about FiOS. I have cable and if FiOS ever came to my area, I don't think I'd even switch. I am happy with my download nad upload speeds. It's not like I download movies. All I do is music, facebook and that's pretty much it.

  • @reddawn5297 There's nothing wrong with that at all. As long as your Cable connection suits your needs and it runs as it should, then it's fine. In my case, I'm a heavier user so I prefer to get higher end connections. Still waiting for FiOS to show up here. I can get 50/5 Cable here but the upload is a bit lacking for my liking.

  • i have fios and i'm in Baltimore, I get 30/30 on a 20/5 connection somehow

  • @naknak95 Verizon is either overprovisioning you that much or they gave you a speed boost. You might be on a different package than what you say you are on. 30/30 would sound like the 35Mbps package, which with TV, runs at 42Mbps/36Mbps.

  • Never... EVER... think about getting clear. It only gives me like 0.6Mbps at most.

  • You're getting a 10 mbps upload speed because the router that verizon provides is bad on the wireless end. Either connect your laptop with an ethernet cable or buy another router.

  • @SGCSmith6612 OK YES thanks youve been very helpful! thats is im subscribeing

  • @MrBigbob06 The router is most certainly movable and you can move it to any location where you have Ethernet or Coax connections. The ONT they install (the device that turns the Fiber signal into copper-based services) is not movable, however.
