Apparently, he got the idea from the Art Linkletter show. Linkletter was talking with a white woman in the audience, and found out that she was a singer. He invited her to play a song. She refused, but Linkletter persisted, and she came on up. "Do you want me to play my favorite song?" she asked. He said, "Yes," and she launched into this song, but with the original lyrics: "I'm gonna get me a shot gun and kill all the n!G$@rs I see..." They shut the tv feed off before it went any further.

@ds41980 OMG. THIS. TOTALLY. Fuck yeah--I miss the real SNL. It hasn't been this funny in years; the original SNL was cutting-edge and took chances. Agree---SCREW PC. I'm so tired of everyone worrying about offending someone. The show used to be BRILLIANT. And nobody ever felt the need to apologize. If you don't like it--turn it the fuck OFF. That's why they put that switch on the t.v....

I love how SNL used to be. Screw PC. Remember that skit Garrett Morris does when he supposed to be translating the news for deaf people and its just him yelling everything Jane Curtain says or how about Eddie Murphy singing kill the white people how about Julia Louis Dreyfus and Gary Kroger as Donny and Marie and they end up making out on Gumbys christmas special? Good times.....
