We do offer a crazy amount of money and food to third world countries. The problem is that the governments in these countries are corrupt and take the money and food for their own finacial gain. Same thing happened in Somalia when our troops tried feeding the local population, the warlords stole it at gunpoint and would only feed you if you joined their cause.

First of all, there's a difference between people who are poor because of outside forces (like an earthquake) and those who are poor because they don't bother to try. Second, study after study shows in America the vast majority of poor and homeless people really are lazy and waste their money on things that don't benefit them.
