It's over-simplistic to say that the USSR dissolved because of economics. USSR social, economic & infrastructure were far worse off in 1946 than in the late 80's.

Totalitarian governments don't simply dissolve because of economics without a fight [USSR leaders like Gorbachev resigned & began the process of USSR dissolution without a shot fired].

The USSR revised itself & its potential thanks in part to Reagan.

Obama didn't begin the war on terror but he is doing a good job with it IMO.

The Russian economy was in shambles and was going to shatter no matter what. I'll give credit to Reagan for "ending the cold war" if people give credit to Obama for killing Bin Laden, because in a technical sense, they both just happened under them. Reagan's ties with the USSR honestly did not have an integral factor in their collapse, 90% of it was their economy, Carter, Ford, Nixon, and Johnson were also very tough on Communism.
