In May of 2007, the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus premiered "USS Metaphor," their adaptation of Gilbert & Sullivan's "HMS Pinafore" and a skewering take on the U.S. military's discriminatory "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy. Encore presentations took place in February and July of 2008.
In this scene, as the USS Metaphor prepares to dock in Boston Harbor, Captain Closeted (Ken McPherson) greets his crew and offers some advice on proper conduct at sea. To order this DVD, please visit https://www.sfgmc.org/merchandise_dvds.shtml

I have to agree. While I feel that gay liberation/right and the prejudice in the military are indeed topics that should be discussed I think this particular execution was poor. that man is hardly closeted and it doesn't reflect on Cochrine well if he doesn't start out as something completely different from what he ends up as, both in regards to the metaphor and the Pinafore.I think the only problem with this is the choice of Captain and his execution.

Oh dear, the original lyrics are so much funnier. It's not the production or performance I'm condeming just the horrors that have been inflicted on the original by 'gaying' it up'!
