when it comes to dressage-,eventing- and showjumping-competitions, it doesnt matter how the mane is cut or if it looks like banshee´s. Of course in a show where the horse gets judged and given points by it´s breed features, mane must look it "should". Btw: have never heard anyone misunderstanding from seeing a fjord with a long mane that it should be like that. And if the fjord is in good trim shape, long mane looks equally beautiful as punk ;)
