  • this song, it sounds so dark, but it dose not use any EMO sounds we hear to today that we associate with dark music.

it shows how well the carpenters could perform

  • Yeah, she's forever.

    a real carpenters psych out

  • Great song. one of my favorites on "Close to you" album.

    Thank you for posting.

  • I was born in the wrong era - wha a pleasure to listen to great voices, great harmonies and nice, meaningful lyrics... Thank you for sharing!

  • @thedarkarse

it is the epitome of the 70's. when instruments were learned and played. with other instruments and musicians.

  • @improvguru Raindrops Falling On My Head was a huge song, but Karen, and Richard put the team of Bacharach & David on my radar. Close To You was my first Carpenter's cassette I ever owned circa 1971. Another Song was the last song on side two, and certainly grabbed my attention. The entire tape has so much depth. Crescent Noon, and Maybe It's You, are so full of emotion like many of their pieces as years progressed their music got even better.

  • I love this - haven't heard it for a long long while. I mainly appreciate it because of the long instrumental break in the middle which really shows off the musicianship of both Karen & Richard in drums and keyboards respectively, but for their accompanying band. Really great tune.

  • Not that I know of, did they do this live. I am sure they must have in the early days but wasn't recorded, even though apparently RC recorded every concert...

  • 9924 views c'mon folks this should have millions of views. The Carpenters deserve the Best because they are the best.

  • I adooooore the first half of this song (I really don't care about the second half) but the song is worth it for those beautiful lyrics and melody. It's divine, I adore it. Long live the Carpenters!!!

  • This is my favorite vocal of all Carpenters song, and I just love Karen's percussion. She was a phenomenal drummer.
