@singer101 If one cares at all about beauty when it comes to voice, then Tebaldi holds the prize. How convenient of La Divina to not value beauty when it comes to voice.

Truly operatic and yet, feminine.
-
i remember when Mr. Bean sang this. ooh good times.
-
@rubbermodel How? can you organize spiristic session with him ?
He was a conductor from the 40's with that kind of melodramatic taste famous not only for his volatile character but for being an anti-fascist,
Today you can find a dozen like him and at least 6 better conductors than him that would not allow an out of tune soprano like Tebaldi to enter an opera house.
Was I clear or you need more arguments?

this is a question you had to ask to Arturo Toscanini another piece of stupid and incompetent man. I don't understand why nobody asked your opinion before talking.

@dziady1 Gerard Souzay is one of my favorites concert singers. his sense for style, his nobleness, vocal culture and cultivated presence are attributes which can not be found today. I became familiar with Souzay after I attended a concert in Zürich about 30 years ago with Francisco Araiza singing Faure and Ravel songs and again ten years later in Venice. I found a big similarity between the two Artists.

@romaitalia29 Let's make a description of what is "sweet" in voice....if Tebaldi is not sweet, then .......come on, let's be fair!

@David45NV1 - Glad you liked the 90 yr. old young lady from my younger days.
Perhaps you heard this untouchable master singer try "Gerard Souzay sings Gluck"
Whenever he came to town not a ticket was to be had ...his Mozart elegant
and beyond compare, I doubt today any can match him. He is a standard of comparison.

@dziady1 I just did and I thank you for the hint. It is one of the most beautiful renditions I have heard. She is wonderful! and unique! She is a true Artist!
-
@David45NV1 No I am not all three - try Marta Eggerth- " Wien Nur Du Allein " there
at 90 is still the art of singing !!! to have heard her and her husband Kiepura in concert
was unforgettable -nothing like it to-day .
As la divina, Maria Callas said... "what a nice voice, but who cares"

@Milahi1935 Callas is not only better but in her own league, it pains be to admit as an Italian as I should be preferring Tebaldi, however the truth is the truth!
Tebaldi powerful? yes, Beautiful, maybe. Sweet? Hell no!
