Here is a great 2 part jazz piece by Dizzy Gillespie with Roy Brown on bass. The first part (Part II) was recorded July, 1946 and the guys are backed up by an orchestra (don't know who), while the second part (Part I) was recorded in May 1946 with the Dizzy Gillespie Sextet and released here on the Musicraft label 78 rpm record.
I know, I screwed up and got part II before part I, but it works and I'm OK with it. Enjpy!
The Bass player is the great Ray Brown. This is second Big Band in 1945 after parting from Charlie Parker ,Dizzy went on tour with a Big Band called the Hep Stations.Touring the deep South the band wasn't well recived. The second Big Band that we are lisitening too did much better staying together until 1949.The rythmn section from this band formed Kenny Clarke Quartet later to become The Modern Jazz Quartet. Ray Brown left the band early touring with Ella, too whom he was married.

This was actually Dizzy's first big band. I'm not sure of the entire line-up of Dizzy's orchestra here, but I do know that - in addition to Ray Brown - Kenny Clarke, James Moody, John Lewis & Milt Jackson were all present.
If I may, I'd like to post a video response featuring another Musicraft 78 by Dizzy's orchestra from the same July 9, 1946 session to compliment this - it's called "Things To Come" and was, supposedly, inspired by the H.G. Wells movie of the same name. :)
