http://www.facebook.com/drummerglen At my drum lesson with Glen Sobel he explains his Modern Drummer instructional article titled "Is That Double Bass?" from the Feb 2008 issue (Jason Bonham on cover).

Here's part of his bio:

"I love surprising people."

So says drummer Glen Sobel who has played in a variety of genres including rock, hip hop, pop, metal, punk, and fusion.
Recently, he has played, toured, and/or recorded with gigs ranging from hard rock (Alice Cooper & SIXX A.M. featuring Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue), pop/r&b (tour with ELLIOTT YAMIN- American Idol finalist who had one of the biggest hits of '07 ), instrumental fusion (Glen played on guitar great PAUL GILBERT's new DVD), drum clinic instruction (JAPAN CLINIC TOUR) to studio TV work (Glen plays drums on the new version of the MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL theme on ESPN). Does this guy ever rest ?!

  • Great vid, lots of fun ideas.

Watch close around 6:02 ... it's good to know that even great drummers go up for some bell and get nothing but felt sometimes lol

  • Glen Sobel is a great teacher and very patient. I'm glad to say that I was able to learn from him.

  • My tom grooves are lacking so I can totally use this. Thanks for the upload!

  • A very useful & practical pattern, I've used it on a cover of Strawberry Fields Forever. Thanks Glen, you're both a masterful drummer and teacher. I've learned a lot from you over the years, particularly in the area of linear drumming.

  • gud,

  • @PKNproductions Fail

  • U look like Doug Alrich

  • Almost the same footing pattern from the Metropolis tom tom groove Portnoy plays. Awesome, though gave me a new perspective on it xD Thanks.

  • @SirBowen1982 hahaha I can't tell you how many times I've smashed my felt XD
