@TheBRADBLOG Check another definition. Oddly, the Merriam webster definition doesn't fit with others. If socialism is state controlled resources/production, it's only in so far as the proletariat is the state. Other definitions fit with our good fellows, of public controlled means.

This is how bad things have got, privatization has gotten so powerful that it goes against the government and people acting democratically. It's private corporations that are restricting people's speech. And Obama is trying to fight it.

2 things:
The 'state' is not government, the state is the combined struggle, efforts of the people, and the government interacting together, people managing to get things from the govt, so the state is really the people acting democratically in the govt, not the govt.
Secondly, the reason the police are facing the socialist side is because Bush increasingly privatized the police, and for special events and conferences the police are hired by private corps. They are hired help on a contract.

I need to ask. What stage is the Tea Party at?.
A while ago they appeared to wanting to run their own candidates for the November 2010 elections and were almost trying to distance themselves from teh GOP or was that just a pure charade that has now been put to bed?

@The8thDOCTOR The "Tea Party" is virtually indistinguishable from the Republican Party. The notion that they were independent, in some fashion, was always a fiction. The Tea Party is the Republican base.
The only actual distinction is which faction of the GOP the Tea Partiers represent. There is an internal rift right now inside the GOP where the Tea Pariers (the far Right of the party) are hoping to to wrest control from whatever little is left of the not-entirely-insane leadership.

Socialism is not "when the government takes over the ways and means of production." It's when the workers themselves control the means of production. In socialism, workers would divide the profits amongst themselves rather than have bosses pay them an hourly wage for their work. Read Marx.
So the woman in this video who says "that's not socialism" is correct. Such ownership/control by the government is called state capitalism.

I"m not for killing fellow Americans. I believe that there are many programs that are "controlled" by the gov't that shouldn't be. Right now I'm trying to make a point that by essentially handing over health care, America will become 10 steps closer to a socialized economy. There are several other things that should be discussed to fully project my entire view of the situation, but I dont have enough text space to do so. I will only talk to "TheBRADBLOG" directly since others have no real point.

Which programs are "controlled" by the gov't that shouldn't be? The banks who we had to bail out because we stopped regulating them for example?
Sounds like ur not familiar with the health care reform being proposed. It doesn't "hand over" health care to anybody.
If you believe it does, you've been had by propaganda from media over *our own public airwaves* that the gov. has (shamefully) given up oversight of. U are being lied to by corporate interests looking to scam you. The scam has worked.
