@KombiPode I was under the impression that he was deemed not fit to stand trial because he had suffered a nervous breakdown. He was locked up in a small cage, out in the open for seven weeks, expecting to be executed for treason. That would be enough to unhinge any man.

@9claudius --poetry of the order of ezra pounds cannot be understood or explained in sound bites. even his critical prose is dense, complex stuff that only makes sense (sometimes) in the larger context of his time. tho claimed by conservatives, his criticisms of capitalism find defenders on the left. i dont believe anyone today comes close to being his equal in poetic achievement. gary snyder may come from the same "school".
