@baloneyjazz Envy NG doesn't work with 9.20 and up. Use Jockey (System, administration, add drivers),

In Ubuntu 8.10, I installed envyNG through the Synaptic package manager, as advised, but I can't find the menu Applications --> Systems Tools. Can anyone help me get this menu to appear so I can find envyNG? Thank you.

Did you install the gtk version as well? Try bringing up the command prompt (alt + f2 then run "sudo -i" in the terminal by checking the box) and type envyng

My laptop's CCFL bulb got busted, so I'm opting to use a spare tv. If I was to use a s-video cable, would it work with EnvyNG? I'm inexperienced with all of this.

It should work, it should probably detect it as a secondary monitor.
