Dv8 and the RPD

The standard Vietcong infantry squad support weapon, the RPD was analogous to the US M-60 and fired a 7.62mm slug from a 100 round belt which was usually contained in a drum mounted below the gun.
This light and uncomplicated weapon was capable of laying down sustained heavy fire.

The RPD is actually pretty diffrent from an AK. It's a modern variant of the degtyarov MGs (the ones with the weird disc shaped mags on top). RPD stands for 'ruchnoi pulemyot degtyarova' (degtyarov LMG). RPD and RPK have nothing really in common design wise, and if you look carefully don't even look that similar

@Talshet its not the 7.62x54R, the RPD fires the 7.62x39mm same as the AK-47, the AKM-47 and the SKS. The PKM, fires the 7.62x54R.
