  • @spamisnotfun does that still give the occupiers the right to get off on a technicality. They're trying to fight corporate corruption from what I understand and if upper management in a major corporation got off on such a technicality in a court case, the occupiers would be very angry or am I misunderstanding a part of the point?

  • @nekocanada2008 While I am no lawyer, I did ask about the technicalities of such things. Of course I was advised to seek legal counsel on the matter.

Personally speaking, with a grain of salt, it could work for or against a defendant (assuming the defendant is a supporter). This would be one of those "Free Spaces" on the bingo card type deals, in my personal opinion.

I would advise seeking authorized legal counsel for further discussion on that point. :) Good questions!

  • bet you some corporate company manufactured and sold that camera he is using.

  • @cyric28 Yes, a company did manufacture and sell the camera I used. Samsung and Google, to be specific.

If you wish to imply that protesting corporations while using a product produced by a corporation is hypocritical, I would normally agree with you and concede your point... however, as I have not yet been asked why I participate, a claim of hypocrisy cannot yet be substantiated. This in mind, more than happy to admit when this turns out to be the case. :)

  • @spamisnotfun Wish I knew who you were today. I did go down to OP. I disagree with the occupy movement but it sounds like I could talk to you.

  • @YouFkdLumbergh Hi,

Of course I also believe Mr. Bruce did his due diligence. Otherwise, we would already see the "ninjas dropping from the sky."

You're welcome, and thank you for continuing to be civil in discussion; it is appreciated!

  • @spamisnotfun First, thank you for leaving my comments up. Appreciate your ability to accept pov's different than your own.

As for having to have the specific bylaw information posted....while I don't have time to search through Alberta's Municipalities Act I would have to assume given the extreme visibility of the situation Bill Bruce would have had the notice vetted through the City of Calgary's lawyers to insure it met all requirements before being posted @ Olympic Plaza.

  • @ Neko: I understand it sounds silly regarding the point about by-law numbers not being posted at the bottom of the sign. Last I recall from school, it was a requirement for municipal by-laws to be posted whereas traffic signs fell under provincial laws (and were exempt). I could be wrong and would be happy to see links proving this; that said, in fairness, I need to find the legal bit which supports my claim. :)

  • @ YouFkdLumbergh: It's not my intention to remove or block comments, as long as we keep the disccusion civil and refrain from discriminating speech (ie: comments attack orientation, race, religion, etc). Also hope to keep personal attacks out of the disccusion; I trust people to use their heads. :)

  • LOL you need a by-law number to understand that the little picture of a tent in a red circle with a line through means you can't camp there?????
