Breaks my heart. But no, I don't think it's cruel. He just loves his human, and it's so very sweet. I wouldn't want dogs running around in a store or restaurant. That's risky. Unless it's a pet store, of course. So I can understand tying one outside for a few moments while running in to get what you need. People need a morality measure. What's REALLY cruel is leaving a dog in a hot car, or a kennel out in the sun, with no water. Or in a kill shelter. That's when to raise an alarm.

I guess I have a really soft spot for the Dachshund breed because I raise them. It really hurts to see these sweet dogs in emotional pain like this. Why take an animal somewhere when it can't accompany you. Would you tether a child to a structure while you went in to a building for any length of time? This is not on the level of murder or child molestation, but why would you do this to an animal which depends on you for security, comfort, and companionship? Shame on you.

If you think of it my way it's not sad because on my speakers the whining noise sounds like the dog is trying to hide his farts bye releasing them every couple seconds
