Western Digital has engineered a masterful machine built for maximum speed! WD VelociRaptor, the newest member of our unique class of 10,000 RPM SATA hard drives, combines a SATA 3 Gb/s interface and 16 MB cache. This monster delivers performance thats up to 35% faster than its older brother, the WD Raptor, yet still giving you the quality youd expect from the Western Digital name. • seagate 500 gb 7200.12 is faster and cheaper,150 read 120 write on ich10r,velosyis like 250$ i bought 4 seagates 7200.12 for 180$ ,run them in raid 0 i get 440 read,420 write bufered read 560mps, no velosy for me

  • Nope not buying Raptors I'm buying the new WD hard drives with support SATA 3.0 (6gB/s) They are called S2S or something they're 300gbs each and have a RPM of 10,000 faster than the Raptors due to SATA 3.0

    :)

  • @youcandownloadthis You need both hard drives to be identical if you want to run them in RAID 0. So get a second Velociraptor.

  • Ay how well will this run in my next system

I will be getting two hard drives first will be a WD 1TB Caviar Black with the WD VelociRaptor in raid 0? Is this a good combo? Is there a faster hard drive then this?

  • bastard (lol)

    i wanted 1 after ma GCSE's

  • that's a 500$ hard drive so there's no comparison there

and as for ssd drives, if your constantly writing and re-writing your ssd will die 3-5 years while the velocipede has an average life of 138 years

you can get a velociraptor as cheap as 250$ so there's no other drive that comes close to price-performance than this.

  • ive had western drives before and there loud you can hear them spin are these loud with ther added speed ???
