Explicit teaching gently scaffolds teacher support. When a new skill is introduced, the teacher overtly demonstrates or models. Next, the teacher guides or practices with the children. Finally, the teacher encourages the children to do it "all by themselves." (The scaffolding is removed.)
•When lessons are focused on specific skills, you will:
Demonstrate.
Guide practice.
Mix group and individual turns, independent of your voice.
