Jet Airways became the first India-based airlines to fly out of San Francisco to India. On June 14th, 2008 a little bit of aviation history was created around 8.30 pm PST when Jet Airways first flight from Mumbai to San Francsico landed at SFO. Jet also is the first Indian airlines to fly the Pacific route to India and the second airlines to fly into Shanghai.

Jet will have daily flights from SFO to Mumbai via Shanghai.

Jet Airways was founded by Naresh Goyal and within a short span of 15 years he has spearheaded the phenomenal growth of his domestic airlines into an International one. For instance, within a short span of one year Jet has opened four stations in North America: San Francisco, Toronot, Newark and New York. Mr. Goyal has what it takes to make Jet into a global brands says N. Sunderaj, who worked with Jet for 6 years until recently. You can listen to N. Sunderaj talk about Jet Airways and Naresh Goyal here:http://kamlashow.com/podcast/2008/06/14/can-jet-airways-become-a-top-global-airlines/

  • I think San Jose would be more profitable since they have more Inidans. Jet Airways should decide the market is in San Jose.

  • One of the best airlines of the world. It's a shame that Jet airways canceled the flights to SFO

  • the owner of jet airways has came to road at the age of 12 when his father died.(naresh goyal)

  • @jbjetairways i was talking about 747-8I. why are they leasing more A330's. are they going add new routes to US from Banglore or HYD.

  • @citywidepooja 747 will b too old for them. but yeah, i am with you. i also want the 77W's back. But to make things worse, jet is leasing 10 A330's, out which 5 are 333's and 5 332's. i am not sure about the aircraft deals in the lease....

  • Some good that prayer did - Jet Airways no longer operates in San Francisco.

  • Hope they bring back the 777s to service. i don't like 330s. my first flight in jet airways was in a 777. hope they buy some 747's too.

  • @KissingBoyZ they didn't have many passengers on the route so it was unprofitable.

  • Well, now they also furloughed/layed off SO many of their Inflight Employees (Cabin Crew, and I Pilots too I think) that they NEEDED to do cutbacks on routes and many other things. Mainly because of their financial situation is on the rocks. And of course, like you said, if the route was not profitable, they might as well have discontinued it. But it's too bad because there is a big market of South Asians traveling to India from the SFO area.

  • when you have 35 people on the plane for a long haul its definately losing money because the fare of 35 people wont even payoff the fuel so whats the point of hauling it that far.... it makes no sense to simply loose money its best to withdraw !
