In 1997, Adam Levine and Jesse Carmichael went to work together with Mickey Madden and Ryan Dusick(who's ex drummer now) to form a band called Kara's Flowers. When James Valentine came to the band (in 2001) they got the name Maroon 5. (sorry for poor English)

This song is not from "The Fourth World" album, I had never heard this one before... it does sound like Adam's voice, but I'm not sure it's them.... by the way, there are some cool songs by Kara's Flowers, "Myself" "As things collide" "Loving the small time"...
