NPR and PBS are government subsidized media orgs and they claim themselves to be more educated, more smart, more articulated than Conservatives, so why are they so scared of competing in the private sector?

Since when does public broadcasting claim this? This is the paranoia of the right talking.

  • “...when politicians and the news media are completely intertwined--not just get in bed together because they’ve always been in bed together a little bit--but their ownership is intertwined with the power of the press, it can get to be a very dangerous proposition..." --Nina Totenberg, "This Week," ABC, July 10, 2011

So cut government funding for NPR, Nina. Don't be hypocritical.

  • @DawnOfTheDead991 So your contention is that quality products do not always rise to the top in terms of popularity then? That's a fair point, I just happen to not believe in forcing individuals to pay, through their taxes, for something that is so marginal. I'm originally from the UK so I have a little experience with this sort of thing. It is morally wrong, in my view, to prop up a business that is so politically tainted. I would feel the same way if Fox were to receive federal funds.

  • @ghowells I respect Krauthammer, though a lot less since he became another FOX "contributor" like Palin or Huck. He is also known to be cerebral & intelligent, unlike most of the rubbish that FOX employs & spews. These days, when someone babbles about elitists. what they usually mean is someone is who isn't a stupid, knee jerk right wing know-nothing like the typical FOX fan. This country works by selling mass produced crap to the masses You seem to confuse popularity with honesty & quality.

  • @DawnOfTheDead991 It is that kind of self-righteous, odious elitism that proves Mr Krauthammer's point. NPR has an elevated view of itself that is very similar to that of the BBC. They spout the lie that they are cerebral, impartial and intellectual and buy-in to that lie wholeheartedly. If they are providing such a great and superior product then it should stand on its own two feet and compete in the market. That is how this country works.

Compared to FOX & most of talk radio, the Pee Wee Herman show is run by better educated, smarter and more articulate (notice grammar) people.
