Derek and Casey like each other but she yells at him all the reasons they can't see each other. He says he can't do anything to change the marriage of their parents OR how he feels about her. She still refuses to act on their attraction. They fight more because without each other they are incomplete. And because they are both so hard headed they insist that they dont' need anyone to make them feel whole, they can walk this world alone. Casey breaks down though, and tells Emily what happened between her and Derek. Emily suggests that she go and find a rebound.

Casey turns to Sam and Derek is rather hurt, so he goes after Emily. Emily, the little backstabber, willingly goes out with Derek. Derek can only think of how 'happy' Casey is with Sam, really she isn't happy with Sam, but Derek tortures himself with images of them kissing.

He invites Emily over and Casey sees them kissing. Stab to the heart for her.

Derek tells Sam via phone what happened between Casey and him and Sam gets a little frustrated. Casey tells Emily that she doesnt' like the idea of Em and Derek dating. Emily says, 'fine I'll break up with him.'. Casey then yells at Derek for ever going after her friend Emily. Derek's like, 'Well you went after Sam. I think it's more unfair on my end.' and he walks away. Casey and Derek settle into a really sad emotion.

After a series of fights the true emotions behind thier attractions become spoken, words they thought they'd never speak.

Sam's anger over Derek and Casey falling in love is shown in a fight that Derek and Sam have. Casey joins in.

At the end, they admit how much they really love and need each other.
