Show notes: Drawing lesson. I eventually want my tutorials to get into how to draw faces so look ahead to future tutorials. Not just coping point for point but a real investigation almost like science, into people's features. That is where drawing can be about discovery. We were working on drawing a person climbing a ladder. Rungs of a ladder. The rungs are spaced further apart as they get closer to us, anything closer to the viewer gets larger. Hips here, head, put hands here. I'm not bothering to draw arms and legs, just hands and feet. Forget about the in between for now. The arms and legs are implied. Our minds fill in where they will go. We want the hips to be in this area here. Use your x-ray vision. The guts would sit on top. We are looking down on top. Way bellow are the feet, much smaller. Most of the time the head is the last thing we work out because it's placement does not change the placement of other parts of the body. If person is standing, work from feet, upward. Hands are important here because they are places according to the rungs of the ladder. We want the get a freedom of movement for our character. The three posture rule, tweak the posture to pull into 3D space. We can start to solidify the chest and hips. Drawing is mostly about adjusting what is already there.

Sneak peek at drawing faces from memory and imagination. A continuation of drawing a figure climbing a ladder that I started discussing in lesson 12. Ways of optically pull the figure into 3d space.

These tutorials are offered for free to help promote my own story telling so please take a moment to see one of my videos at solomation.com.
