If you'd like to enjoy watching birds up close, there's an easy way to attract them right to your yard. If you build them a feeder...and they will come! You'll need wood...I like rough-sawn cedar...2 pieces of plexiglas, dowel rod, a couple hinges, and nails or wood screws. Following the instructions, carefully measure and cut out the ten pieces. In two of the four side pieces, drill a 3/8-inch diameter hole at each end. Cut a shallow groove along each side of the end pieces. Then cut a bevel edge on the roof pieces...and assemble. Make sure you leave a one-inch space below the plexiglas for proper seed flow. You can screw the sides to the end panels...but this way, the sides are removable, making it easier to clean. You can also use masonite for the sides, but I prefer the plexiglas so I can see when a refill is needed!
