All hail the Konawaena Wildcats, 2009 HHSAA Girls Basketball Division I State Champions. Led by the untiring, dedicated Bobbie Awa, "Aunty" Bobbie as she is affectionately known by her players, Konawaena has won again by humbling the powerful Punahou School girls, defending champions from last year's tournament. The Wildcats starting five is made up of 3 freshman, 1 senior and 1 sophomore. The point guard is Aunty Bobbie's own daughter, Dawnyelle. Aunty Bobbie and her husband, Donald, have trained this precocious bunch of talent in the Parks & Recreation leagues since they were in elementary school.
