@roguenify There are so many wonderful garments to wear.Yes! She should've had a breastfeeding shirt or a cape. I spoke to a young girl (she was breastfeeding at the dr.'s office), whom I knew, and asked her about public breastfeeding and how she felt. She said "It doesn't bother me at all." There was a young curious boy, about 4 years old, just STARRING at her! She didn't look twice at him. She was, however, completely covered. She was wearing a drap that covered her and the baby's face.

If you are going to breast feed at this age have some manners about it. Cover your breast. YOu have the right to breast feed but the public has the right not to be put in the spot so to speak. It may be offensive to others so if you want them to be considerate of you be considerate to them. I think she is way to old but that is your choice..but that age in public is honestly sick to look at. You want respect with your choice give the people who have to look at you some respect.

@akasha6ix Also, what makes this example of breast feeding weird is that the person next to her is forced to "give her privacy" by not staring at her breast.Personally, sometimes I am curious and want to look, just out of sheer wonderment, but that would be disrespectful. So I have to pretend I don't see it and divert my eyes.

@akasha6ix Firstly, I am not a man. Secondly, that's why I said "imagine if" men's sexualized reproductive organs nursed an infant (should man carry a baby). It's sometimes hard for our minds to divorce the sexual purposes and natural purposes of the act (breast feeding/penis feeding) when we see this in public. That's why openly breast feeding, w/o a cover up, can be awkward for the stranger enjoying her morning coffee at Panera, for example. Apologies if my analogy alarmed you.

A man does not CARRY the child, does not give BIRTH to the child, and most of all, does not carry the hormones you share with your child. You are just there. You are meaningless after conception. no OFFENSE but maybe you should take your food to the filthy ass bathroom and eat it. Instead of shoving a woman with her baby in there! Men think breasts are meant for THEM! IT"S NOT! Everything on our body is completely logical and useful! What can your nipples do besides be a sad reminder that they hold no purpose! It's a beautiful thing to see a baby feeding off it's mother! You should be honored to see a woman brave enough to display such love!

Breastfeeding in public is a very practical (natural), personal, and political issue. It is healthy and encouraging for more mothers to breast feed. However, exposing your breast without a cover up in public is inappropriate, even if there is a suckling child to hide the nipple. It is hard for our minds to remove the sexual imagery we associate w/ reproductive organs. Imagine if a child fed from a man's penis, but all you could see is him/her on his knees under a table w/ its head bobbing.
