nice video but DOWN WITH THE POST OFFICE! ALL post offices. are people still sending paper mail? talk about pollution! the average home gets something like 28 lbs of junk mail a year. i live in ward and i check my mailbox about once a month (and only that often because i am required by law).
stick a blue mailbox outside of the post office and no one has to go any further to mail a letter. and jamestown is taking over the delivery. thats not going to add very much gas consumption for delivery.
Silly really, when so many more cars are going to have to drive further just to send mail.
Bureaucrats just don't think things through. One postal truck delivers to many many folk OR many many cars add extra CO2 gases to pollute, then the government has to spend money trying to reducing boku CO2 emissions which they helped to create by closing these kinds of post offices and other similar services down in rural areas?
Let some entrepreneurs run the country and see how much better it would get!
I don't understand why the video portion was shot portrait (by a phone presumably) when everything else was (beautiful) landscape. I love funky Ward, CO. Sadly, I think you're fighting a cliff-shaped battle. Sorry.
Thank you so much for bringing me home in this video. Ward is part of a slower time of my life. Where you looked forward to the treck to the post office and a visit with Bill. Please don't take away the only way I can send my new great neice's and nephew something. It could be weeks in the winter time before these people could get down the mnt to get their mail. I only have 10 family members left there but that is my home.
I sure hope and pray that you won't lose it. It's a terrible thing that the PO is going through, and I don't think people realize how serious it really is. It's happening all over the US and that is why I use the PO exclusively for my online business and wish others would also. If we all tried to throw them as much business as we can it would sure help them out and maybe this wouldn't be such a problem. Thanks for sharing this.
I lived near Ward for 32 years and spent earlier hippy years around the town. It is unique. There are lots of people in town who have no transportaion. They need their post office!
Patently ridiculous to say that people in this vibrant town should have to travel 12 miles over roads that are often impassable to find a post office. It's also one of the few places in this rural area providing employment...we're supposed to be creating jobs not dissolving them.
@KubeROX ...at least we won't have to waste money heating that old building all winter anymore.
down with the USPS. this is 2012. there is a better way
