  • No matter how many times this message is repeated, some people keep claiming that raw reserve figures (e.g. hypothetical trillions of barrels in shale) are all that matters. They don't seem to accept flow-rates and EROEI as legitimate concepts, like they're operating on an anti-gravity planet.

I used to feel the same way about humanity, but anger towards yourself will not solve anything. We are, unfortunately, decendants of wild animals a have only recently domesticated ourselves (a couple thousand years after dogs). Our brains are not built to easily recognize long-term consequences to solutions for short-term problems. Look up Edward Bernese and you will see how we have also been manipulated to over-consume. We need to educate people and resist the urge to blame.

  • @dahlenu Man I hated SUV's with a passion. They're making them "smaller" now though lol. Sorry to say, but Americans have become just comsuming wasting greedy slobs. The coming crash will soon all change that, hehehe.

  • @GaryNull - We Europeans are almost as stupid as Americans, but I remember during the 90's how surprised I was to hear about SUVs in the U.S. and American oil consumption. Here in Europe there was much discussion about the environment and conservation and if somebody bought a gas guzzler others interpreted that like as a statement like "fuck the environment" and "screw the next generation". But in the end, we haven't solved the problem either, so I guess we are all idiots...

  • @sromag Don't have time to explain now, .. have to fill-up the Hummer.

  • Excellent.

No someone explain Peak Water, . . . hahaha

But I'm guessing that the water demand will be slowed down

once the oil runs out and brings society to a halt.

  • Shit

Anyone know how to build wind turbines?
