RBR (Recumbent Bike Riders www.rbr.info) set up a recumbent trike with electric assist and then cranked up the assist quite a bit. Everybody who has taken the trike for a spin (and believe me, we find any excuse we can to ride it) has loved the instant pick up and high speed parking lot laps.
Honestly, we need a bigger parking lot.

Great concept of electic assist. Makes up for the extra weight of the trike vs bike. Only downside is cost. Upside is outstanding comfort.
