This short video profiles four individuals with disabilities and some of their accomplishments working, volunteering and recreating. Each individual is shown demonstrating their abilities and contribution. Hannah lives with Angelmans Syndrome, Meliah with Downs Syndrome, Taylor with Cerebral Palsy and Mathew with cognitive and physical impairments including significant challenges with speech. As the vignettes suggest each of these individuals is making a significant contribution wherever they are found whether at school, playing sports, volunteering or working. Their energy and enthusiasm is catching. For example, Mathews volunteers and works on a project basis with CanAssist on a regular basis. When he is sick or on holiday he is missed by all the staff. Mathew brightens our days at CanAssist and he gets a great deal accomplished! These short scenarios are set in context by the important role that research plays in setting the stage for individual success and contribution. This video was prepared by four CanAssist staff who filmed one individual each as part of a video training program, These staff are Michelle Cho, Tara Kelk, Ivan Petrovic and Elsa Yan. They were trained by Scott Earle a Victoria based film/video consultant.
