  • john,

is that a dgt cherry burst or a smoke burst.

    thanks!...

  • @lynoj777 DGT CHERRY burst. Really a beautiful guitar.

  • love your column in premier guitar

  • @rockabilly12

    Thanks for reading the column.

  • Why did you change the stock pickups out?

  • @dparel The stock pickup are great... I was given some Dimarzio Eric Johnson's to try out and put them in just to see what they'd do. It's an apple orange thing. I really love them both.

  • Hi John, I read your column in Premier Guitar and I wholeheartedly agree with you! My heart goes out to those guys who posted those "instructionals".

  • Wow that amp has a great sound.. I've got a couple CU24s and I love them to death.

  • Hi John,

Would like to know your opinion on solid state vs tube rectifiers. I know Valvetrain makes amps with both....great column in P.G.

  • Great article in Premier Guitar April 09. Thanks for the perspective and Daly quote.

  • @musicdriven888 No, you're right. They want it to sound better. I own a 40 year old LP, and the DGT does it better..LOL David Grissom worked hard to voice the PRS pups to sound like the ones on his 335. That's the reason I bought one. It does LP tone better. Hope that makes more sense, as to why I used the LP example. Rock on!

  • You are definitely more of a player then I am (your videos are sick!) but for what is worth, I don't think PRS is trying to offer "LP grind" with any of it's guitars, the same way it's not trying to be a strat with it's addition of single coils. That's why I like PRS - because it has it's own sound. I think many companies are trying to recreate

LPs Strats and teles. If you you want "LP grind get an LP". That's where I'm at. Definitely not trying to ague with you here. Just giving my opinion.

  • @musicdriven888 Yeah, but you don't get any LP grind with a 513 or 305. That's why the DGT is such a hot selling PRSi. Quite a following on Birds & Moons.

  • The DGT has a coil tap in it which is how he got the strat sound. If you want the best of both worlds then check out the PRS 513. Endless pickup possibilities. The 305 is also an amazing guitar outfitted with single coils.
