Session 12: In the year 2099...
Summary of Description panel:
A) Bio
B) Articulation
C) Commentary & notes
A) Bio: Miguel O'Hara was a genius scientist who, believing himself to be addicted to his corporation's proprietary drug, attempted a radical cure that was interrupted by a fellow scientist and the resulting accident endowed him with enhanced strength, agility, retractable talons (for climbing), web spinnerets on his arms, and poison-filled canines. Unlike many heroes with the "great power comes great responsibility trip", Spiderman (2099) is a reluctant hero continually dragged into fights largely as a result of being hunted as a suspect in the destruction of the lab (from the accident). Miguel's costume is basically an old Halloween costume from a Mexican Day of the Dead celebration, made of a molecularly unstable fabric that can withstand the use of his talons.
B) Articulation: Articulation is very standard Marvel Legends. Includes:
-Neck joint (neck & head fused; moves at shoulders with limited motion)
-Fingers (two fingers move back/forward in an modern spiderman motion)
-Forearm (360 swivel; no bicep joint on this figure)
-Elbow (double pin-joint)
-Shoulder/Arm (balljoint motion)
-Ab/diaphragm (moves back/forth, 360 swivel?)
-Waist (360 swivel)
-Leg/hip (ball joint)
-Knee (double pin-joint)
-Ankle (pin-joint)
-Toe (pin-joint)
C) There aren't many Spiderman 2099 figures, so this is probably the best of the bunch as it's the only one with the usual ML level of articulation. Paint job is so-so, as the dark shadowing looks phoney. The light blue mirrors the comic look, the death's head-like crest shows crisply on costume. However, my figure's loose joints make it very tough to stand so I can't make full use of figure. Also, cheap cloth cape is a downer. Wish they would've used plastic.
I love the spiderman 2099 universe it's my favorite. But I never understod why they replaced all swear words with "shock" I think it's cool that spiderman says shock instead of "f***". But why? Is there some kind of rule? If anyone knows please tell me!!!

@MustyMarkus1 They tend to substitute curse words for "futuristic" curse words in a lot of scifi stuff. I think the reasoning is half censorship, half theme. You'll notice that there isn't much cursing in normal comics, so switching to a curse that really isn't a curse is probably a way for them to make it look like the characters curse on a pretty frequent basis without potentially offending any readers who get worked up by that stuff.

There is a re-issue of him in the hasbro's spider-man origins line (2006) they painted him with a metallic blue

The Origins version is a different sculpt which lacks the ab/diaphragm joint, the toe joint, and the finger joint, among other things. Plus the Origins version lacks ball-jointed legs. I liked the paint on the Origins version, though.
