"What Were We Thinking?" -- Doctor's Office

Another in the new series of TV commercials illustrating the somewhat incongruous presence of smoking in public areas by the Utah Department of Health's Tobacco Prevention and Control program (TPCP).

The television spots, scheduled to begin airing on Utah television stations this week, display ridiculous-in-hindsight scenarios in which smoking used to be commonplace: This one, set at a doctor's office about 50 years ago, features a young boy being examined by his pediatrician -- while the doctor is smoking.

So just because people used to smoke in doctors' offices and don't anymore, means it's OK for the GOVERNMENT to intervene and stop people from smoking in places it's still socially acceptable such as bars and restraunts that the owner decides to permit? I fail to see Utah's and many other states' logic on this one.
