Ford Hall represents Hennebery Eddy's innovative higher-education design capabilities and incorporates campus context, collaboration spaces, and sustainability. It received LEED Gold certification, met the 2030 Challenge, and received a first-ever 2030 Challenge Design Award.
Situated on Willamette University's historic North Lawn across from the Oregon State Capitol, Ford Hall was designed to harmonize with neighboring academic buildings dating back to 1867 while making visible the state of the art technological tools for academic collaboration housed within. Ford Hall brings activity and new vigor to the North Lawn, Willamette University's formal and historic front to the community.
The 42,000 square foot mixed-curriculum facility provides an abundance of flexible high-tech collaboration spaces (hearths) that allow for personal and group interaction between students, faculty, and staff. All 25 faculty offices have a direct connection with a hearth space encouraging informal collaboration with students. The building complements and enhances the academic programs Willamette University provides; including facilities for Computer Science, Rhetoric, Math, Digital Art, Film Studies, and Music Lab.
