  • Yea, you forgot to mention his opponent was John Mcshame, the turncoat phony. And even running against someone as sorry as Mccain, Obama only won by a seven point margin. If a real republican would have ran, barack obama would have had the floor wiped with his face. Not every American is an obama zombie or a useful idiot. Learn how to think for yourself

  • If we would follow the Founders Vision of States having autonomy as is written in the Constitution then this "culture war" would go away, liberal areas could be liberal and conservative areas could be conservative and we could all get along like back before some people decided they were so smart their ideas should apply to every state, citizen, and community.

  • @UShistoryX2 If we gave the states autonomy then blue states like Cali would thrive as it now only gets back 78% of its tax dollars in spending from the federal govt. Red states like Mississippi that recieve 200% of their tax dollars back in govt. spending would go bankrupt. That's fine with me, I am tired of subsidizing the god damn redneck riviera anyways!

  • i desire a separate republic (the Republic of Cascadia) or Pacifica to form a place where progressive liberals, socialists, and lefties might pursue their own government and society based on their own conscience rather than living among those with a very different philosophy and world view. Political and social diversity isn't making us any stronger or happier. We need a "divorce." Split the family up and let's start over again. To each their own to pursue their own dreams and visions.

  • New York opposed the U.S. Constitution and forming a strong central government initially and it took many letters, broadsides and much pamphleteering of the citizen farmers of NY to persuade them to join. These letters form the "Federalist Papers" and were written specifically to address the many questions New Yorkers had about union. It was a narrow margin and many 18th Century New Yorkers did not want union. Many were quite content living separately.

  • I agree with UShistoryX2 wholeheartedly! I would love to live freely and peacefully among my own kind (liberals and progressives). It would make for a more efficient system of government and a happier society. We could all be happier if we could divorce ourselves of this false union. Much of the violence and depression that exists today might be attributed to our being forced into a "marriage" that neither of us wants to remain in nor wanted in the first place. Let's free ourselves.

  • The southern americans are the true americans, the northerners had their minds poisoned and corrupted

  • @jp6869 Tea Party much? This is getting to the point that something akin to a Civil War is nearly inevitable. I'm sticking with the South and the Constitution, not the liberal Yankees and what our government has become.

  • @edelweissnpa

Yet another Hitchensite gobdaw. Go do something useful.

  • Why not just allow the fundies/creationist theocrats their own autonmous homeland? They want to worship a semitic religion and believe in a bible written by Abrahamics, then let them have a separate homeland to preach their fairy tales.

  • @UShistory: I believe the American left and the social conservatives both mistrust the idea of decentralization, they favor a stronger Federal government. The states rights people are finding themselves abandoned by both parties, unfortunately.
